This place previously located in Viman Nagar has now shifted to Baner. As the name suggests, you will find a variety of South Indian delicacies in their menu. All the dishes I tried had an evident flavour of the South Indian spices. The most common thing used in their recipes being coconut and rice, the prepared food items are pretty much healthy. Starters 🍵Melagu Varutha Rassam was a black pepper based Rassam with strong aroma and taste of black pepper and garlic. The taste was on the spicy side and i loved the concept of making a soup from recipe of rasam. 🍙Kuzhi Paniyaram or Appe in Maharashtra are small balls of fermented rice flour mixed with onion. They were well cooked and the coconut chutney served alongside was the best. The texture was just smooth and one can't resist eating it. 🍘Ulli Wada is a popular snack of Kerela and resembles Onion pakoda from Maharashtra. The difference being the additional crispness of this wada which derives from rice flour. Other ingredients include onion ofcourse, gram flour, curry leaves, fennel seeds and garlic. Their pudina chutney was also up to the mark and complimented well. Main Course 🍲Tomato Pappu, is a dish from Andhra which consists of tomato and dal. The dal used is arhar or pigeon pea lentils and the tomato is used to give a tangy flavour. I didn't like the taste much as i felt that the daal was a bit undercooked. Also, this dal is supposed to be on the bland side so spice lovers will not like it much. 🥘Alleppey Vegetable Curry from Kerela, are vegetables cooked in a masala paste of tomatoes, fresh coconut and red chillies, tempered with curry leaves and coconut oil. I loved the taste of the curry and it tastes even better with paratha or Appam. 🍛Bisibela Huliyana is something I love. Being from Karnataka, it is often prepared at my house and hence had something to compare with. It is made by cooking rice and toor dal together along with a variety of veggies. Veggies generally includes drumsticks, peas, radish and

This restaurant should be your go to place if you want to have some authentic south Indian food which tastes absolutely delicious. The place has it all from Kerala to Andhra, karnataka to Tamil Nadu. Every south Indian cuisine is covered. The ambience is very decent and suttle. Lot of natural light 💡 . We went there for dinner and had alot of food. For starters we had Ulli wada (onion fritters or onion bhaji ) and Kuzhi paniyaram (Appe in Maharashtra) . Main course had Tomato pappu (Dal) ,Alleppey vegetable curry along with Malabar paratha, appam and Iddiappam. Also the Bisibela Huliyana (rice) was tasty. For dessert they had Semiya payasam. Overall the food was good and had a homelike touch. The staff is enthusiastic and very well trained.

Recently I did a 3000KM road trip from Pune to Rameshwaram along the west coast, covering all major coastal cities, Madurai, Munnar, and Coorg. Throughout the road trip, the delicious and authentic food of the south along with beautiful roads kept my two wheels moving without any fatigue. When we hear the term "South Indian" food, the first thing that comes to our mind is just Idli and Dosa, but those who want to know what a beauty South Indian food must visit "South Lagoon". Having had the authentic food in the South, I was craving for it since long and finally, I could satiate it here. Starters: >> Mirapakaya Pakodi (Cut Mirchi Pakodi) Andhra chilies stuffed with roasted peanut, sesame seed, tamarind, and deep-fried. - The perfect starter for those who love it hot and spicy. A must try in Monsoon. >> Pachai Milagai Paal Katti Pirattal (A Chef Speciality Sauteed Cottage Cheese with homemade spices) - I love ghee roasted food. Though this Paneer dish wasn't exactly the ghee roast, its taste with spices was real south. I wish I could get those spices in grocery shops around here. >> Mutton Uppu Curry Varuval (Tamilnadu Style Mutton) Chettinad home style mutton cooked with shallots, garlic, and coriander. - I just tried a piece of it, loved the garlic flavored Chettinad gravy, Mid-Spicy and Aromatic. Mains: >>South Lagoon Grand Non-Vegetarian Thali - This was the highlight food of the day for us. This is just huge, consists of 2 Starters, Chicken and Mutton Preparations in Sambhar, Rassam, Yogurt, Rice, Parantha, Appam, Idiyappam & Dessert. Every single item in thali was as good as having it "a-la-carte". The Appam was spongy, Iddiappams were hot and fresh, Parantha was perfect. Highly recommend it. If you don't know what to eat here and just order it blindly for 2 to 3 people. >>Andhra Pepper Chicken (Andhra Black Pepper Chicken ) Chicken marinated in turmeric,ginger-garlic paste, green chilies and lemon juice cooked till crispy. - One of the finest Chicken pre

This newly opened rooftop restaurant is a treat to the eyes. The entrance itself is grand, with typical South Indian decors. From kathakali dancers designed on the walls to beautiful cutleries, this place just wins my heart. I had the opportunity to try their vast menu and every dish was a success. For welcome drink, I had RASAM SHOTS, pure flavourful rasam garnished with the foam of buttermilk to add that surprise touch is all you need to make yourself more hungry. My starters included, Mirapakaya Pakodi ( Cut Mirchi Pakodi) - Andhra chillies which are trust me really different and not so spicy, are stuffed with roasted peanut, sesame seed and tamarind, deep fried to serve as pakodas with an emili chutney. Pachai Milagai Paal Katti Pirattal > (A Chef Speciality Sauteed Cottage Cheese) - Garnished with lots of Curry leaves, this paneer is outstanding as the marination has all the spices added to it. Mutton Uppu Curry Varuval (Tamilnadu Style Mutton) - mutton over here is cooked in a very specific manner. The perfectly cooked mutton is very soft and served with shallots,Garlic and coriander. Natholi Crispy Fry - this is a type of a fish that is deep fried and made crunchy. So you can munch onto this dish for a long time as these are really tiny fish. For mains I had, South Lagoon Grand Non-Vegetarian Thali - going by the name, this thali is indeed very grand with 2 starters, chicken curry along with mutton curry and fish with sambhar, Rassam, yogurt, rice served with ghee. This thali covers three major components from chicken, mutton and fish. The quantity is amazing and no man can finish this in one go. I would really recommend this thali for a real hungry stomach. Battani Masala ( Karnataka ) (Green Peas masala Karnataka style ) - this is nothing extra ordinary as it has Green peas in a masala of tomato, onion, red chillies. But this very subtle dish tastes so good that it seems like you are having something extraordinary with all these flavours. Andhra P

'South Lagoon' have started with their delivery kitchen services. And, I was too excited to try their food. Recently, I ordered Chicken Combo for lunch. Order was delivered in estimated time with good packaging. Food - I really loved their combo which included 3 Appa, Chicken Gravy, Chicken starter, papad and pickle. This combo is perfect to serve single person. I enjoyed having soft Appa's with thick chicken gravy which tasted really delicious. The starter was good too. Will surely try out their few more combos.

In India as we Move ahead from city to city, we have different Food Tastes and different styles of cooking the same Cuisine. Keeping this in mind, South Lagoon is here in Baner keeping in mind all the tastes of the the Southern part of India. They have cuisines from different states with a perfect state-wise Authentic Tastes of the different cuisines around from Chef Venkatesh. It was an amazing Experience stopping by at South Lagoon to fill my South Indian Cravings. Starting with the MEGALU VARUTHA RASAM , as a welcome drink, we were soo much acquinted to the taste at the beggining only. For the Starters we ordered CAULIFLOWER 65 and PACHA MELAGAI PALKAATTI PERATAL. The Cauliflower 65 was served with Authentic Chutneys, but the Paneer wasn't that great also it was a bit Hard to chew. For the Mains, we ordered VEGETABLE STEW curry and TOMATO Rice. Every item had that perfect south Indian Curry Leave Blend. and I would definitely recommend it. Also Vegetable Stew was served with fluffy and soft APPAMS and MALABAR PARATHA. I had one of the best Appams in Pune. To end with a Sweet Tooth, we had hot piping Gulab Jamuns. The staff here is very friendly and co-operative. Overall... Food - 4/5 Ambience -3.5/5 Service - 4/5

South Lagoon As the name suggest this place serves amazing south food. So I visited this place with mu buddies to explore this place. After entering the place it really felt like south place because they have a beautiful pictures on the walls which are related to south people. The ambience is really good and proper. So at starting we had lemon rassam which was hot and sour in taste. But it was really good. Tried this first time in my life. Then coming to the starters we had 1)Cauliflower 65 2)Guntur Kodi 3)Natholi Crispy Fry Every starter was cooked upto mark and the taste was also good. But personally I loved the natholi crispy fry (actually its a fish named mandeli which is small in size) it really has a good taste. A must try item over here. Then for the main course we had. 1)Chicken Kurma 2)Meen Colombo 3)Lemon Rice 4)Appam 5)Malabar Paratha The Chicken kurma was the bestest item I have had here. The taste was just mind blowing. And It tasted so good with appam and Malabar Paratha. Meen Colombo and Lemon Rice were also good in taste. And atlast we had Coconut Jaggery Pudding in dessert which is a must try item. Overall a very awesome place . Service and staff is also good.

As the name suggests this restaurant serves south Indian food. As you enter into the restaurant, it gives you the necessary little feel to be in the South India, by its ambiance - the pictures on the wall, the music being played and the people associated with restaurant, their kindness. We Went for a dinner, they have seating area on the front, inside restaurant on the ground floor and first floor. So, one can choose its occasion, though space is limited but it is spacious. Coming to food, In the starters we ordered Tomato Rasam, Mutton chops & Kuzhi Paniyaram. A we know soup consumed hot before the meal, the digestive juices are activated in the digestive tract & also it increases our hunger. So, it did exactly the same. Mutton chops - perfectly cooked not more not less, some people might think that it is cooked little lower side, but from my perspective it should be the way. & also it was little on spicier side, well, it was how it should be. Kuzhi Paniyaram - what they call in the south, we Maharashtrian call it "Aape"" with chutney. well, it was well cooked, nothing extra to say about it. After having the starters we went towards the main course and in that we had, Kai Kari Kurma, Andhara chicken curry, Meen Moilee with breads such as Appam, Malabar Paratha, Iddiappam. Out of the 3 main course dishes I liked Andhara Chicken Curry more, chicken was perfectly cooked, my meaning of perfect is, it was not overcooked which we sometimes find in other restaurants. Curry taste was mouth watering. Meen Moilee Fish dish was also served with curry, & I believe all dishes are made in coconut oil and coconut milk, just the way Keralites do, kottayam style. Fish was having one bone at the center and was very soft and creamy I would say. As they make all dishes coconut based you could find little different taste in Kai Kari Kurma too which you might not be aware of, but it tastes good, just little different than our traditional way.
